Ready for a major planetary shift? On Thursday May 13th, Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance enters dreamy water sign Pisces, where it will stay until July 28th (it turns retrograde on June 20th, eventually re-entering Pisces on Dec. 28th). So…what? Another day, another transit, right? Wrong. 2021 Jupiter in Pisces is not just another transit. It is a titanic transit of epic proportions that will have a massive impact on society. And I’ve got everything you need to know about the transit.
Ok, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but that’s Jupiter for ya. The gas giant isn’t the largest planet in our solar system for nothing.
In astrology, Jupiter is a planet of many things– optimism, abundance, opportunity, travel, higher education, spirituality… and it rules mutable fire sign Sagittarius and the 9th House. However, Jupiter is perhaps best known as the planet of expansion– and what do I mean by expansion? I mean all the new experiences and new people and new events and new ways of thinking that help you get out of your comfort zone, overcome limits, and reach new heights. Yeah, Jupiter rules that kind of expansion.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock and have been unable to read any of my hilarious yet informative horoscopes and astrology articles, then you know that Pisces is a water sign.
Pisces is also arguably the most intuitive and imaginative of all the water signs, which means 2021 Jupiter in Pisces will bring more of those two qualities into our lives.
Jupiter in Pisces is a transit for synchronicities and building castles in the air. In plain English, this means we encounter meaningful yet seemingly casual occurrences and want to dream impossible dreams. What’s more, our psychic abilities are on point, and we’re swallowed up by an interest in mysticism, religion, and travel because Jupiter in Pisces believes in something bigger, but also loves to wander around and get lost.
During Jupiter transits, certain aspects of life feel a lot more significant and meaningful than they might actually be. Of course which aspects of life depend on the sign in which Jupiter is transiting. Pisces is the water sign of empathy, daydreams, spirituality, and romance. Ergo: empathy, daydreams, spirituality, and romance in addition to what I mentioned before, are going to become massively more important for many of us (except maybe Capricorn, because they loathe all that mystical stuff).
Collectively, 2021 Jupiter in Pisces will inspire more creative thinking, more devotional and charitable behavior, more receptivity, and more opportunities for healing. So, if you’ve been hemming and hawing like a Libra over whether or not you should volunteer at that animal shelter, start a yoga practice, or go back to church/school/that meditation clinic, then 2021 Jupiter in Pisces is the time to do it.
There are some caveats, though.
For one, Jupiter in Pisces is famous for excess. Under the transit’s influence, we can morph into a metaphorical high-risk gambler who doesn’t quite know when to stop rolling the dice and instead just keeps doubling down until we eventually go broke. Whatever you do, don’t be that gambler! If you notice you’re spending gobs of money while thinking the universe will find a way to double what you’ve spent, you’re being excessive and delusional. Yes, I know that’s how the law of equal exchange works– you sacrifice something to gain something –but splurging your paycheck at Sephora and expecting a magical refund of the money in your bank account the next morning is not how all that give-and-get stuff works.
Of course, Jupiter in Pisces excess can manifest in other areas of your life, not just your finances. In relationships, you might double-book your dates or fall for someone with irresistible guru vibes, only to realize they’re seven years older than you and that such an age difference makes them less attractive and more of a creep (chuh. Been there). In your career and professional life, you might feel compelled to quit your job before applying, interviewing, or being hired at another one, and then find yourself jobless, penniless, and despondent. My astrological advice: avoiding doing such things.
Another issue with Jupiter in Pisces is the tendency towards impressionability. Big word, I know, but it’s an important one. Since Jupiter is the planet of our highest aspirations and Pisces is the most fuzzy-minded zodiac sign of the bunch, goals that we’ve been working towards might suddenly seem less clear and we’re more likely to give into the goals appointed by others. What we should really do is rely on our soul’s guidance or do some dream journaling to figure out whether our goals align with our ideals. Some (Virgo) may scoff at this, but it’s sound advice.
Fire signs Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius will see this transit bringing abundance to their intuition, which helps deepen their relationship to themselves. Air signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius will experience some of that fuzzy-headedness, especially as it pertains to their work goals and career paths. Whereas water signs Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces will notice a subtle surge in their creativity and self-confidence. Earth signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn will note that Jupiter brings abundance to their relationships and friendships.
The overall theme of 2021 Jupiter in Pisces is expansion, but that doesn’t tell you much about how the planet will affect your life. And I’m not going to either. Sorry, but I already gave you a complete blow-by-blow of the transit.
