The 2021 Solar Eclipse in Gemini will change everything

For some of us, anyway.

Gulp. On Thursday, June 10th, we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse in chatty, high-strung air sign Gemini. That’s right, at 4:52 am MT, our second eclipse of 2021 arrives, and this one is a doozy because it is a “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse. According to EarthSky.org, this means “a bright annulus – or ring – will surround the new moon silhouette at mid-eclipse.”

Word on the street is, manifesting during eclipse season is a big no-no. Why? Because the energy of the Sun and Moon (the two luminaries involved in major lunations) is hella unstable. This is especially true for the 2021 Gemini Solar Eclipse.

First and foremost, Gemini is about as unstable as it gets. The mutable sign says one thing and does another, and can be spacy, overly abstract, superficial, fretful, scattered, and flighty. However, Gemini is also the premier sign of change. So, you can imagine what the double Sun-Moon energy in the air sign will do to and for you. If not, here’s a spoiler: it’s going to bring about potentially uncomfortable opportunities for change.

Ordinarily, New Moons are, in Carol Rushman words, times of “beginnings, initiation, renewed energy and vitality… excitement and stimulation.” In other words, opportunities tend to arise. Sounds muy bien, right? It would be muy bien if we were having a regular New Moon, which we aren’t. It would also be muy bien if Mercury wasn’t retrograde in Gemini, which it is.

This means that whatever the 2021 Gemini Solar Eclipse initiates in your life will take a few days longer than you’d expect. Why? Because retrograde planets slow the progress of activated transits.

And speaking of Mercury, the retrograde planet is making a close conjunction to the Solar Eclipse, which is even further reasons why intention setting and manifestation is discouraged. Mercury Retrograde muddles messages and causes mental and verbal miscues. So, if you were to write out what you want for your life, because of Mercury RX, you may not know what that wants is. Plus, Neptune in Pisces makes a loose square to Mercury as well as to the Solar Eclipse, so confusion and miscommunication are practically guaranteed.

What else is going on in the cosmos on the 2021 Gemini Solar Eclipse?  Um, Saturn in Aquarius is sextile Chiron in Aries, which could summon unresolved insecurities. Saturn in Aquarius is also making a loose square to Uranus in Taurus (this square is exact on June 14th). According to AstrologyKing.com, “Saturn square Uranus transit brings restrictive change or unexpected restrictions. It can bring change that you don’t want. It also makes it harder to make the kind of changes you do want. This can be a very frustrating time of rising tension and sudden, expected changes.”  And the cherry on that cosmic shitshow sundae is Mars opposite Pluto, which will mostly make you feel like a victim.

But enough sexy cosmic foreplay. It’s time for the good stuff. Which you’ll have to hear about on my podcast, Cosmic Chronicles: Astrology with Cosmic Cannibal.
