As if December isn’t busy enough–what, with all the holidays and travelling and whatever else people do during this month–the universe is giving us even more action this weekend. On Dec. 18, we have the Gemini Full Moon, which not only has a Sun-Moon opposition, but it also brings a trine from Jupiter, as well as a conjunction between Venus and Pluto.
(Pssst: if you want to know EVERYTHING there is to know about the Gemini Full Moon, check out my podcast Cosmic Chronicles: Astrology With Cosmic Cannibal. There you’ll find a lowdown on all the transits this weekend, including Venus Retrograde.)
By now you probably know that full moons are very energetic times emotionally. Why? Because a) the moon is the luminary of our feelings/imagination/instincts, and b) the lunation marks the peak of the lunar cycle, when we feel emotionally charged and well, full.
You probably also know that Gemini is the sign of communication and activity, most of which is mental because it is an air sign (and air signs rule the mind). With the moon full in Gemini, there’s an urgent need for mental activity–a.k.a. communication–and stimulation. Just watch for that Gemini tendency to over-rationalize your feelings.
Now, onto Jupiter.
Jupiter is the planet of luck, abundance, expansion, optimism and opportunity. With Jupiter trine the Gemini full moon, that aforementioned urge to communicate will be even stronger and your emotions may feel more buoyant or significant than usual. Jupiter could also bring some big-time blessings your way.
The outer planet is a benefic, which means he bestows beneficial gifts and/or protection. Usually, these gifts come in the form of: job opportunities, romantic advances, financial windfalls, and/or new encounters. Since Jupiter is in Aquarius, the sign of the future, the planet’s early X-mas “gifts” will likely be beneficial to your long-term growth and future endeavors.
Ok, enough of that. Let’s move onto the conjunction between Venus and Pluto.
Simply put, a conjunction occurs when two or more planets are in the same sign and degree. Venus and Pluto will be conjunct in Capricorn. I’ve already written an extensive horoscope article for Venus in Capricorn and a detailed article about Pluto, so you should be familiar with both planets, but here’s a quick refresher:
Venus is the planet of love, romance, relating, finance, and beauty. Annnd Pluto, is the planet of death, rebirth, destruction, crises, and transformation.
With the conjunction between Venus and Pluto, the latter planet could create crises in your relationships and/or finances. What’s more, it may encourage you to say goodbye to whatever isn’t serving you–in your romances, your spending habits, your friendships, etc.–in order to become a better version of yourself.
If single, the desire for a relationship may feel very strong; if in a pairing, the desire to deepen your bond with your partner or break things off and go your way may arise instead. Either way, you should expect to feel a pang in your heart chakra, along with a push/pull in your root chakra to transform your current situation.
Whew. I don’t know about you, but I’m already worn out from the Gemini Full Moon, and it hasn’t even happened yet.
